IES has performed onsite chlorine remediation projects on a global basis processing thousands of compressed gas cylinders. Safe and successful management of chlorine cylinders is an essential element of water, wastewater, and chemical processing operations. When used, stored, and dispositioned properly, chlorine containers can provide years of troublefree service. However, gas leakage and exposure to weathering conditions along with physical damage can lead to significant and sometimes dangerous deterioration of system components, most notably at the valve. Failure of a chlorine container valve while in use or storage creates a difficult situation from both a personnel safety and pollution control standpoint. The accompanying PDF file outlines in detail a cross section of the chlorine remediation projects that IES has performed. Additional information about our approach from a presentation given at WEFTEC 2003
